Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Executive Sous Chef or Sous Chef, the Food Service Logistics Coordinator is responsible for supporting the movement of food, supplies, and equipment throughout Brentwood School’s dining operations.

This position coordinates the packing, transportation, receiving, storage, stocking, and organization of products and prepared foods between the commissary kitchen and various dining locations. The Food Service Logistics Coordinator also assists with kitchen production, inventory management, event support, and general operational needs to help ensure efficient daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

Food Distribution and Logistics

  • Prepare, pack, label, and transport food, beverages, and supplies from the commissary kitchen to designated service locations.
  • Verify product quantities and ensure accurate delivery of menu items.
  • Maintain food quality and temperature standards during transportation.
  • Coordinate timely delivery of products to support meal service schedules.
  • Assist with transportation and setup for special events and catered functions.

Receiving and Inventory Management

  • Receive deliveries from vendors and suppliers.
  • Inspect products for quality, accuracy, and proper temperatures.
  • Verify packing slips and communicate discrepancies to supervisors.
  • Properly rotate inventory using FIFO procedures.
  • Store products safely in dry storage, refrigeration, and freezer areas.
  • Maintain organized storage areas and inventory locations.

Stocking and Organization

  • Replenish food, beverage, paper, and cleaning supplies throughout dining operations.
  • Maintain organized storage rooms, walk-in coolers, freezers, and service areas.
  • Assist with inventory counts and product tracking.
  • Monitor stock levels and communicate replenishment needs.

Kitchen and Operational Support

  • Assist culinary staff with basic food preparation tasks as needed.
  • Support meal service setup and breakdown.
  • Assist with catering and special event operations.
  • Perform opening and closing duties as assigned.
  • Support operational needs across multiple dining locations.

Food Safety and Compliance

  • Maintain a current California Food Handler Card.
  • Follow all HACCP, food safety, and sanitation procedures.
  • Ensure proper labeling, storage, and temperature control of products.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary work areas, storage areas, and transport equipment.
  • Follow all School safety policies and procedures.

Student, Faculty, and Community Experience

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to push and pull loaded carts throughout campus.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, including refrigerators and freezers.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in food service, receiving, warehouse, logistics, catering, or hospitality preferred.
  • California Food Handler Card required.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid California driver’s license preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, retirement contributions, professional development opportunities, and tuition remission benefits.
  • Salary range: $20/hr–$26/hr annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
